Here's an overview of how to get around the course. Please reach out to me via email, Whatsapp or in the Facebook group if you have any questions or difficulties.
Course Structure
The introductory course is divided into five modules, each containing a series of lessons with videos and reflection tasks.
Work through each of the modules sequentially as that will build upon the one previously.
Either download and print out the module workbooks to complete, or use them as prompts in your own journal.
The workbooks are for your own self development and not to be submitted.
If you have any thoughts or questions as you work through the reflective exercises please share them with your fellow students in the Whatsapp group.
Accountability
Once you meet your fellow students I would recommend finding an accountability partner, especially so if you are enrolled on the full doula course. The more you put into the programme, the more you will grow and be able to give to future clients, and sometimes life gets in the way of our goals. Having a study partner will help keep you on track, be someone to reflect with and bounce ideas off and support each other through your journey.

How Much Time Should I Set Aside?
You don’t need full days or a quiet house. But you do need to carve out consistent space for your learning.
Here’s a rough guide:
For Each Module:
Watch the teaching content: 30–60 mins
Engage with resources/research: 30–60 mins
Self-enquiry/reflection prompt: 30 mins
Optional book reading: Flexible
➡️ Approx. 2–3 hours per module
Monthly:
2 x 90-minute live sessions: 3 hours
Time with your case study client: Varies – plan for 1–2 hours a month
Journalling, thinking, integrating: 1–2 hours
➡️ Suggested total monthly time commitment: 8–10 hours
You can absolutely do this in short, focused bursts throughout your week. Many students are also parents, carers, or working — this is designed with that in mind.
There is a planner inside the Companion Guide - make notes of the dates, tick the modules off as you complete them and check in after each module.
Tips for Making It Work
Block out time in your diary like an appointment — honour your committment to the course
Batch small wins: watch a video while cooking
Keep your journal handy for short reflection bursts
Don’t wait for perfection — progress is important - small steps
Talk it through in group calls — the magic is often in the conversation
Return to the material if something didn’t land — you have access throughout
🌟 This Is A Spiral, Not A Straight Line
Your understanding will deepen over time. Don’t worry if it doesn’t all land the first time around. Trust the process. Trust your pace.
The goal isn’t to race through content. It’s to become the kind of grounded, wise, and responsive birthkeeper you know you're meant to be.
You’ve got this.
And finally...
REACH OUT: If you're struggling with any of the material, trying to juggle life and feel you're getting behind or finding making those boundaries for yourself are just not working - message me. Drop your worries in the group. You'll find support from the others who have been there - including myself - and we can support you.
TASK
Go to your coursebook now and map out your studies for this part of the programme.
Look at what commitments you already have, where you want to be bringing in your case study and ensuring you have adequate time to work through the modules and attend the live calls.
